Day 41 of Vicks VapoRub Treatment

As ever, I have been applying Vicks each morning and night. It remains rather tricky to work out how successful the treatment is actually proving...

As mentioned in my previous blog post, I regularly cut away at the infected parts of the nails, leaving a white residue that looks a lot healthier, which makes me think I must be doing something right. I apologise for the blood on these next photos, nail removal can prove quite dangerous.

Despite the minimal improvement in nail quality, I will continue the Vicks treatment and update you soon...

Day 31 of Vicks VapoRub Treatment

I'd like to be able to say that during my period of abstinence from reporting on my toenail progress, my toenails have made an impressive recovery. Sadly, however, the situation is yet to show signs of great improvement.

I have been continuing to apply the Vicks twice a day, morning and night, yet the fungus does not appear to be growing out, much to my disappointment. What I have in fact regularly been doing is cutting away at the infected areas of the nail in the hope that this will stimulate healthy regrowth. The infected parts of the nails almost crumble off when I cut them, showing just how deeply affected they are by the fungus.

Here are some photographs of my nails prior to the most recent cutting away of the fungus:

Followed by images of the nails post-cutting, which, as you can see, reveals a white nail product under the nail. I'm interested to know whether this white layer is a natural part of the nail or is a result of the fungus, and if my cutting out of the nail is having the required effect on the infection or not.

Day 11 of Vicks Treatment

I have a job which requires me to be standing on my feet all day, resulting in my inability to remove my shoes and allow my feet to breathe until the evening. I've still been applying Vicks at least twice per day, but sadly often have to put my socks straight on after applying it in a morning. The Vicks toenail fungus process doesn't really account for people with 9-5 jobs.

Nevertheless, I feel some improvement can be seen in my big toe, but I have been clipping my nail every so often as well, in an attempt to almost cut away the fungus. The little toes still have some way to go, but alas, the body can only reproduce cells at a certain rate. All in good time...

(My toes actually look better in real life; the flash doesn't help)

Day 5 of Vicks Treatment

So, I was under the impression that my toes were seeing some improvement. That was, until I took some photos with the flash on and realised that the situation had not improved all that much just yet.

As I said previously, I've been applying Vicks VapoRub to the affected toes twice a day (sometimes three if I have the time). I would say that it seems that my big toe has begun to look a little less infected close to the base of the nail, but in actual fact I don't think there was ever actually infection in that area.

The Beginning: Day 1 of Vicks Treatment

Having done extensive internet research into alternative methods to rid myself of a fungal toenail infection, I found numerous success stories of people having used Vicks VapoRub on their toes. At a mere £4.50, I was more than happy to try it out, as I was never prepared to pay the costly prices of products such as 'Curanail', which often need to be re-purchased a number of times as nails take so long to grow out.

So, these are my toes as of day one of the Vicks VapoRub treatment. Using a cotton wool bud, I coat the infected toes twice a day (morning and evening) in Vicks and leave for as long as possible before putting shoes and socks on/going to bed. The second toe has remained uninfected throughout.
